Elephant's Trunk Nebula
Located in the constellation of Cepheus, this nebula is about 2,400 light-years away from us. The bright star just above the nebula, near the top of the image, is a very bright and massive star - its radiation is striking the nebula, giving the upper side its glow. This radiation is also compressing the nebula, triggering the creation of new stars.
